Lean Six Sigma is a continuous improvement methodology most commonly associated with improving manufacturing processes. But the same principles that drive manufacturing efficiencies by eliminating waste and streamlining processes can be used to improve ANY process, including those of social service nonprofits.
The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to welcome Ginny Agresti of 3M and Courteney Roessler of Merrick Community Services to our May 11 St. Paul breakfast discussion: “Using Lean in a Food Pantry: 3M & Merrick.”
Merrick Community Services partnered with 3M Lean Six Sigma experts to apply LSS principles to its food shelf, reducing Merrick’s distribution time in half, while serving 10 more people a day. This presentation will provide a high level overview of Lean principles and the forms of waste, share the story of the Merrick-3M partnership, and provide suggestions for how to apply the same principles to your processes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good to donate to Merrick!
The discussion is at Metro State University in the Ecolab Room in the Library (details provided at registration). Continental breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:00 with the presentation from 8:00 to 9:00 am. No cost for members; $30 for non-members. To register, contact [email protected].
Livestreaming and video-on-demand are now also available ($20 for members, $40 for non-members; discounted annual subscriptions are available and Premium/Sponsoring Members are free). Please contact [email protected] for more information and for the link to register.
