The Baldrige Framework, now in its 30th year, is being used by thousands of organizations across the US (and the world) to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities, optimize resources, and improve and sustain results. Originally designed for businesses, it is now being used by healthcare systems, educational institutions, governmental agencies, and a variety of other nonprofits to improve leadership effectiveness, strategic planning, customer focus, use of measurement and data, workforce engagement and capability, and operations. But how does an organization actually use the Framework to improve outcomes — how do you get started, how do you mobilize resources, and how do you sustain the improvement efforts?
The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to host a panel discussion of four organizations that are using Baldrige as their management system as our March 2 Minneapolis breakfast: “Using Baldrige to Improve Results.”
The panelist include:
- Bob Du Fresne, CEO/owner, Du Fresne Manufacturing Company
- Peter Farstad, Chief Administrative Officer, LifeSource
- Cathy Moeger, Director, Operations Division, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
- Jeri Reinhardt, VP of Quality and Performance Excellence, Benedictine Health System
All four organizations are at various stages of using Baldrige to improve performance — one has used it for 12 years and one just officially began using it last year. The four organizations represent different sectors (business, nonprofit, public sector, and healthcare respectively), and the four are all of various sizes. Each will share some commentary of why their organizations started using Baldrige, along with some of the value they have enjoyed as a result of doing so. Attendees then will be invited to ask questions about how to get started, how to integrate Baldrige with other improvement methods, how to deploy Baldrige within an organization (training, getting employees involved, getting senior leaders engaged, etc.), and any lessons learned along the journey. The discussion will focus on how Baldrige can be used to improve performance, rather than the Award/recognition component of the program.
The discussion is March 2 Minneapolis Community and Technical College, downtown Minneapolis, in room L3000 (details provided after registration). Continental breakfast and networking from 7:30 to 8:00, and the discussion is from 8:00 to 9:00 am. To register, contact Brian Lassiter at [email protected].
Livestreaming (no charge, through FaceBook) and video-on-demand ($20 member, $40 non-member; free for Premium/Sponsoring Members) are now also available. Please contact [email protected] for more information and for the link to register for livestream or on demand.
