As the saying goes “No strategy works until it is executed.”  In fact, it’s easy to argue that strategy implementation is more important – and more difficult – than strategy development.  Anyone can pile into a retreat by the lake for a day or two, speculating on scenarios and setting bold goals.  But it’s far more challenging to allocate and mobilize resources, implement action plans, make and sustain meaningful change, monitor progress, and constantly adjust to shifting environmental factors.  Successful strategy requires successful strategy implementation.
The Performance Excellence Network — in partnership with the St. Paul Area Chamber and the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence — is pleased to host an online webinar discussion on Thursday, April 20: “Successful Strategy Implementation.”  The discussion will feature three speakers, each giving a short “TEDtalk” overview of how their organization implements strategy:

  • Rod Baker of Winona Health will share how they use Hoshin, catch-ball, and other planning tools to iterate and implement strategy
  • Alissa Daire Nelson of Daire 2 Succeed will share her 4-Pronged, strengths-based (Power Under) process, which guides leaders through the human side of strategy implementation
  • Dan Maus of General Mills will share their approach to cascading strategic plans and action planning and deployment through personal priorities

Each speaker will share methods, tools, insights, and best practices on how their organization implements strategy: we’ll explore concepts like how they use data to track and report progress; how to involve internal and external stakeholders; how to revise plans when circumstances change; how to communicate and manage change with key stakeholders.  After the introductory presentations, we’ll have discussion and Q&A.

This session is Thursday, April 20 from 8:00-9:00 CT (optional networking and mingling 7:45-8:00) using Zoom MEETING. Grab your coffee and breakfast, and join us for a rich discussion. Free for PEN/SPAC/WCPE members; $20 for non-members.

Can’t make it live but interested in the content? Register anyway: all registered attendees get a link to the recording after the session!
