The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to announce the return of the “Public Sector Community of Practice,” a quarterly roundtable forum designed for leaders and continuous improvement professionals in the public sector to explore ways to improve outcomes, share best practices, and network.  The CoP will feature a discussion each quarter that focuses on some aspect of improving local government performance – topics such as effective leadership, workforce engagement, customer focus, process improvement, measurement, and other relevant subjects.  The CoP is intended for all levels of leadership and any CI professional from city, county, or state government (private sector leaders, consultants, and other professionals are encouraged to attend PEN’s other learning and networking events).  It is brought to you in partnership with the State of Minnesota’s CI effort within the Department of Administration.

The next discussion will be Tuesday, February 19 from 2:00-4:00 PM in St. Paul (hosted by MNDOT) and will feature several newly appointed Minnesota State Commissioners, each sharing his/her emerging vision, priorities, and philosophy for leading the State into the next four years.  After each offers his/her remarks, we’ll have an opportunity for Q&A and dialogue.  The goal of this session is to give State and local public sector leaders a sense of where the State is heading, helping you to frame your work in the context of the State’s new vision.

Speakers include:

  • Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Commissioner, MnDOT
  • John Harrington, Commissioner, Public Safety
  • Alice Roberts-Davis, Commissioner, Administration
  • Julie Ring, Executive Director, Association of Minnesota Counties
  • Dave Unmacht, Executive Director, League of Minnesota Cities

You can participate in person or virtually through streaming.  To attend in person (at MnDOT in St. Paul), plan to arrive 1:45-2:00 for informal networking and a light snack; discussion is 2:00-3:30.  For streaming, we have secured four”cluster sites” across the State (Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud, and Rochester areas).  You are also welcome to stream from anywhere you have access to the Internet — alone or with colleagues.  Details forthcoming after registration.

For a limited time, there is NO COST for members or non-members!!  So come try out the forum – learn practices that can improve your organization’s performance and network with local public sector leaders and professionals who are passionate about continuous improvement and performance excellence!
