Topic Overview

For good reason, Lean is still one of the hottest improvement tools today. What once was really only adopted by manufacturers, is now being used by service businesses, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, governmental agencies, and even education institutions. The goal of Lean is to eliminate waste in your processes. But how does it work? How can organizations (or departments or teams) get started with Lean? And how can sophisticated organizations already using it get more value from the tools.

Dave’s simulation will demonstrate the four lean principles of identifying the value stream, continuous flow, creating pull, and eliminating “Muda” (waste). It is a good introduction to Lean thinking and demonstrates the improvement process in a fun, interactive way. Participants will take away a basic understanding of Lean thinking and how to apply it in their organization. And organizations already experienced in Lean will hear from another experienced organization, Seagate—hopefully generating some insights that can accelerate your improvement efforts.
