When it comes to developing Quality Management Systems (QMS), we’ve all heard success stories of larger businesses improving quality and profitability. While most big businesses have the resources to invest in analysis and program development to implement and sustain a quality system, what about the small businesses in the early stages of growth?  What about nonprofits and other types of organizations?

The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to welcome Sandi Larson, Business Development Professional at UMD Center for Economic Development, to our June 15 Twin Ports breakfast discussion: “Quality, Lean Aren’t Just for Large Business.”

Sandi will talk about the barriers that hinder smaller organizations from pursuing quality systems, how any organization can get started toward development of a quality system, and the importance of creating a culture of excellence early in the life of an organization.  She will also share how Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) like CED are introducing small businesses to some basic Lean principles to help them start implementing strategies to improve customer satisfaction and profitability.  Sandi will share concepts that can be applied to small businesses, large businesses, and any size organization!

The discussion will be at a location TBD in Duluth.  Continental breakfast and networking 7:00 to 7:30 with the discussion from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Free for members; $20 for non-members.  To register, contact Brian Lassiter at [email protected].
