Attend in person (St. Paul) or attend by streaming online (either alone or in “clusters” in Duluth, Rochester, Mankato, and St. Cloud!) — NO CHARGE for this valuable discussion!

The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to announce the return of the “Public Sector Community of Practice,” a quarterly roundtable forum designed for leaders and continuous improvement professionals in the public sector to explore ways to improve outcomes, share best practices, and network.  The CoP will feature a discussion each quarter that focuses on some aspect of improving local government performance – topics such as effective leadership, workforce engagement, customer focus, process improvement, measurement, and other relevant subjects.  The CoP is intended for all levels of leadership and any CI professional from city, county, or state government.  It is brought to you in partnership with the State of Minnesota’s CI effort within the Department of Administration.

Our first discussion will be Tuesday, October 16 from 2:00-4:00 PM in St. Paul (hosted by MNDOT) and will feature a panel discussion that focuses on “Managing through Transitions.”  The topic is timely, as elections are three weeks after the discussion, and many governmental agencies will be in a period of transition soon after.  Panelists include:

  • Ryan Church, Enterprise Director, State of Minnesota, Management & Budget, Management Analysis & Budget Team (and leader of the State’s transition team)
  • Bre Graber, Budget & Business Improvement Manager, St. Louis County
  • John Linc Stine, Commissioner, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
  • Jay Stroebel, City Manager, City of Brooklyn Park
  • Andrea Turner, Director of Human Resources, City of St. Paul

Each will share their experiences in managing through transitions, offering tips, insights, and best practices that could be useful for your agency or public entity.  We will also facilitate small group discussions to share insights among those in the room.

You can participate in person or virtually through streaming.  To attend in person (at MnDOT in St. Paul), plan to arrive 1:45-2:00 for informal networking and a light snack; discussion is 2:15-4:00.  For streaming, we have secured three “cluster sites” across the State (Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud, and Rochester areas).  You are also welcome to stream from anywhere you have access to the Internet — alone or with colleagues.  Details forthcoming after registration.

NO COST for members or non-members!!  So come try out the forum – learn practices that can improve your organization’s performance and network with local public sector leaders and professionals who are passionate about continuous improvement and performance excellence!
