Innovation by Design is a Hennepin County creative problem-solving approach based in human-centered design. It starts with the people the County serves and ends with a service that is specifically tested and designed for the stakeholder/customer.  Innovation by Design is guided by the mindsets of empathy, optimism, and experiment.
The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to welcome Amy Schrempp, Innovation and Improvement Manager in Hennepin County’s Center of Innovation and Excellence, to our September 5 Minneapolis PEN breakfast & livestream discussion: “Co-Creating Government: How Innovation by Design is Transforming Hennepin County .”

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about how you can use this approach in your own work (governmental agency, business, school, nonprofit, or healthcare organization) by starting with empathy-based methods.  Participants will learn how to empathy map, a collaborative tool uncovering deeper insights and understandings of our customer’s needs, regardless of subject matter.

Session takeaways:

  • Learn why co-creation in government is the path to meaningful, resident-focused services
  • Understand how empathy-based approaches enhance government services
  • Experience empathy mapping and leave with a plan to use for your own empathy map exercise

The discussion is Sept 5 at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, downtown Minneapolis, downtown Minneapolis: T Building, 1415 Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis (room T-1400); details provided in confirmation after registration.  Continental breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:00 with the presentation from 8:00 to 9:00 am.  No cost for PEN members; $30 for non-member guests.
