Measuring results – for operations, products and services – often stops at the “beans.”  But tracking things like the number of calls taken, processed contracts, fulfilled requests, and other operational results only tells part of the story.  Even looking at how well tasks are completed – effectiveness measures – still leaves gaps in your insights.  The big question any leader in any organization must answer is: after we’ve completed our process, how effective were we?  Is anyone – particularly the customer – better off?

The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to welcome Cathy Moeger, Operations Division Director at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, to our October 12 St. Paul PEN breakfast discussion: “Beyond the Beans:  Results Based Accountability the MPCA Way.”

Measuring results should help leaders identify improvement efforts, balancing controls/constraints while ensuring that processes produce outcomes that customers need.  Cathy will share MPCA’s 8-month pilot effort to implement the State’s “Results Based Accountability” (RBA) system in operations, helping the organization monitor effectiveness and improve performance. MPCA’s experience in RBA measurement should translate to any organization in any sector!

The discussion is at Metro State University in the Ecolab Room in the Library (details provided at registration).  Continental breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:00 with the presentation from 8:00 to 9:00 am.  No cost for members; $30 for non-members.  To register, contact Brian Lassiter at brian.lassiter@performanceexcellencenetwork.org.

Livestreaming and video-on-demand are now also available ($20 for members, $40 for non-members; discounted annual subscriptions are available and Premium/Sponsoring Members are free).  Please contact brian.lassiter@performanceexcellencenetwork.org for more information and for the link to register for livestream or on demand.
