The Minnesota Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI), an alliance partner of the Performance Excellence Network, is pleased to announce its next breakfast session: “Authentic Living, Authentic Leadership.”

“Authentic Living, Authentic Leadership” is an interactive talk which offers leaders the opportunity to perform a private, voluntary ‘check-in’ with different areas of their life to evaluate (or score) how their leadership and lives are in line with their own values, and to commit to an action step on behalf of their personal values.

Using a brief introduction that examines different historical definitions of what it means to live and lead authentically, Elizabeth also incorporates some of the latest neuroscience, which shows how the mind and heart communicate with each other. It suggests that the heart is more closely connected to the brain than previously thought, and that “heart thinking is smart thinking”.

Elizabeth also utilizes client case studies that support the idea that leading and living authentically (according to one’s own values, whether they coincide with received cultural values or whether they are unique to oneself), is the best way to model leadership—and achieve happiness and peace of mind.”
