Often organizations have high hopes for the future of their organization, but they just don’t make the kind of progress they’d like for their stakeholders. This is particularly true in the nonprofit sector, where education, government, and other social service organizations face tight budgets, public cynicism, conflicting external mandates, and the increasing complexity of providing service to clients. For non-profits – and really all organizations – it is sometimes difficult to stay focused on what is most important.
The Performance Excellence Network is pleased to welcome Meredith Fox, CEO of Portage Partners Consulting (PMP, M.P.P., CPCC, ACC), to the June 2 Performance Improvement Breakfast discussion: ” A Practical Guide to Strategic Plan Implementation in the Social Sectors: How to Turn Your Organizational Priorities into Action and Results.”
Many organizations may have a strategic plan, but it just sits on the proverbial shelf rather than guiding key decisions. Oftentimes, employees don’t have enough clarity on what to focus, so they end up rowing in opposite directions, chasing the newest shiny initiative or putting out daily fires instead of driving the organization’s core agenda. The good news is that shifting this dynamic can be relatively simple.
Meredith will share several techniques that improve how organizations implement strategy, including targeted action planning, staff capacity building, and modified leadership team meetings. She will share tips and best practices that improve organizational focus, alignment, and ultimately outcomes – in the nonprofit and business sectors.

Meredith Fox is CEO of Portage Partners Consulting, a Minnesota-based management consulting firm serving the community engagement, planning and implementation support needs of school districts, higher education institutions and state and local government agencies.
