Partnership Brings Good Leadership Skill Development to Performance Excellence Network

Program Helps Organizations Hardwire “Soft” Leadership Skills

Brooklyn Center, MN — The Performance Excellence Network (PEN) and Good Leadership Enterprises launched a partnership today at the annual PENworks conference bringing Good Leadership training to PEN members. The move rounds out PEN’s extensive quality and operational training programs and gives members new options for building the capacity and capability of leadership and their teams. Good Leadership Enterprises will deliver workshops to PEN members.

PEN founder Brian Lassiter said, “PEN has seen a steadily growing need for tangible, engaging learning opportunities for organizations to improve their skills and performance in leadership and change management. According to the gold standard definition of world class performance, the Baldrige Framework, high performing organizations have visionary leaders who create a culture that delivers a consistently positive customer experience and demonstrate clear values and ethics. The Good Leadership model of creating ‘cultures of encouragement’ is in direct alignment with that framework.”

“Cultures of encouragement” is what Good Leadership Enterprises describes as organizations that actively, intentionally create environments designed to foster engagement. Gallup reported in early 2015 that less than one-third (31.5%) of U.S. workers were engaged in their jobs in 2014. Paul Batz, CEO of Good Leadership Enterprises, maintains that engagement is the result of an enterprise-wide definition and expectation of how teams work together.

“Especially during difficult periods of change and disruption, the so-called ‘soft’ skills — generosity, fairness and positivity – are often the most challenging for an organization to ingrain into their culture,” said Batz. “Forty-six percent, nearly half, of our clients say positivity is the most difficult thing to sustain. Our program hardwires these skills into an organization’s culture, making them tangible, teachable and measurable.”

PEN will hold Accelerating Leadership Performance Workshops around the region in 2016:

In this highly concentrated, highly energetic workshop, we will introduce the five most important leadership areas for increasing performance and quality:

  • Manage personal leadership to stay positive in all situations (Goodness Training)
  • Create great results with informal and formal teams (Team Leader)
  • Guide people through personal and professional changes (Leading Change)
  • Help leaders grow and develop for performance at the next level (Coaching Others)
  • Influence across hierarchy, generational and ethnic dividing lines (Influence)

The first Accelerating Leadership Performance Workshop will be held on June 2 at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN. Details can be found at:
